What I would argue is that femininity is a vulnerable state that we are socialized into. Women are not raped by accident. As I say to my students, rape is a form of over-conformity to the norms and values, not deviance. The question we should be asking in our culture is not ‘why to men rape’ — that I understand — it’s “why do not all men rape?”
